I am sitting in my kitchen, just finished loading new music on my iPhone, and have packed all my bags. (Yes, i am bringing two suitcases.. chronic overpacking is a terrible problem of mine). I just took the second of a series of malaria pills and am buying time until 3:00 when my mom and i are leaving for dulles airport.

Since i applied to go on this study abroad in march 2011, i have been SO excited for the trip, in a “well, yeah it’s happening but not for a really long time so it doesn’t really matter” kind of way. But now it actually IS happening, and i’m not sure i understand even right now that in two days i’ll be on the ground in kolkata.

Our flight is as follows:
Leaving Dulles 12/28 - 9:45 pm
Land in Doha, Qatar 12/29 - 6:20 pm
Leave Doha, Qatar 12/29 - 9:00 pm
Land in Kolkata, India 12/30 - 4:15 am

i’ve never been on a flight longer than two hours (from chicago to richmond) and i’ve certainly never been anywhere out of the country that isn’t comparable to the US (canada and a cruise to the bahamas) so this trip is pretty monumental.

i can’t wait to tell you all about ! :)
